synthetic diamonds

The manufacture of synthetic diamonds is very complex. Graphite powder is pressed at a pressure up to 60,000 bar (your car tyre has 2 bar) and a temperature of 1,500 °C for several days. During the press procedure the graphite changes its crystal structure to a diamond. These synthetic diamonds are used for jewellery as well as for the industry.

This process requires our heat shields out of zirconia to insulate the tooling.
